He was chosen as the Ambassador of India to South Africa as a part of Rotary International’s Group Study Exchange Program. An innovative choreographer and a very able instructor, Lourd has travelled to the US, Canada, UK, Israel, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Egypt, France, Jordan, UAE to train, perform and teach at international festivals and congresses. With this global experience, he brings the latest dance styles and concepts to his students in India. Lourd Vijay has revolutionized Indian-western dance over and over again in India - most notably, by introducing Salsa in 1997. Closely associated with the Indian Society for Performers and Teachers of Dance and the India Salsa club he has focused on popularising Salsa in cities like Bangalore, Colombo, Taipei, Mumbai, Kolkata, Mysore, Hyderabad, Cochin, Chennai, Delhi, Pondicherry, Indore, Auroville, Goa, Pune, Kathmandu and other cities. He has fond memories of choreographing and working in many theatre productions and Bollywood Production including the Jackie Chan starrer 'The Myth". He has just launched a Dance Initiative – a project to impart dance as a vocation tosocio-economically challenged individuals.
